Special Week for A Special Child
As part of our first grade program, your child will be taking part in "I Am Special", a program designed to foster self-esteem, personal growth, and positive regard for others. During a week of being a special person, your child will be responsible for the following activities:
Information packet will be sent home with your child two weeks before his/her special week begins. Please help your child fill out the autobiography. You can write or type the information as your child dictates it to you. Fill in the shape, cut and glue them on the two 9" x 12" pieces of construction paper. Make sure practice retelling all the information with your child.
This activity is designed to help children reflect on their past and begin to understand the sequence of events in their lives. Before Monday, prepare the poster with pictures and have your child write down information about each picture.
The estimation jar will be used for math activities on Friday. Please fill it to the top with item that are larger than your child's thumb. Make sure all the item in the jar are the same.
Your child may bring up to six favorite things for sharing. Please no pets--photos of pets are okay.
Choose an item from home that will fit in Mr. Wizard. The class will ask 10 questions for clues. Please be sure that the treat is brought to school before morning recess. It can be any kind of treats without nut products.
